Tyler is off oxygen! They moved him from 7 east to 7 north, which indicates he has progressed to the point where he doesn't need constant monitoring. He has been eating a ton and smiling. Scott and I went with my mom to golden gate park and Heidi stayed with Tyler while they transitioned him to his new residence. They haven't said anything about a release, but if his fluid output is at a reasonable level, they'll take out his drainage tubestomorrow and then release him a day or two later. It could be as soon as Friday! We'll see.
What color are his eyes? Let's have a poll. Everyone says something different.

Hazel - is that hedging bets? I think they are like Bob's eyes, sometimes green, sometimes brown. Tyler looks beautiful! His smile is back and his eyes have a twinkle to them. He is truly a miracle baby! We are so happy that he is doing so well! I hope he is able to get home soon - he'll feel better, and you'll feel better.

I'm going for Hazel all the way! SOSO gorgeous with amazing lashes - every girl would die for those! He is so cute and such a champ for pulling through all this. What a fighter!

I am going to say Hazel as well, however in this picture the left one looks more brown than the right. I am so excited that Tyler is doing well, he is such a fighter and I am so proud of him!

Grandma has always said "green hazel" although they look a tiny bitter browner in photo pictures. Must be that saturation setting on the camera...
Tyler's beautiful hazel eyes, long eyelashes and great smile all adds up to "One special little guy"!!! We Love You!

According to "Do they look alike?" entry, Tyler has Hazel eyes. Although in all the pictures, they look dark brown..oh so beautiful.

HE LOOKS FANTASTIC! There is nothing better than an eating baby, they always eat when they feel good! This is such great news. I have been buried this week, and am so relieved to hear how great he is doing.

I think his eyes are brown! McMillan brown, which is the warmest fuzziest brown there is.

My mom is in town from Utah. She spent the night at the hospital last night and has been holding Tyler quite a bit. He really enjoys being held, so he's less fussy and has responded well to the weaning of the oxygen. He's on regular air, but I guess it's still the high-flow to keep his lungs inflated. He's up to 9 cc's of food per hour, an improvement over yesterday's 2 cc's. The picture is of Betty and Bob Maddox (Heather's in-laws), Jacquie Lietz (Heidi's mom), Heather Maddox (Heidi's sister), and Walt Lietz, Heidi's dad. They did a 5K walk to raise money for the American Heart Association. Thanks to all who donated on behalf of Heather and Tyler!

Ok, should we just rename our blog the McMillan Pediatrics Medical Journal? Everyone has issues. Our family is congenital medical disorders. Tylers heart, Carls brain and Dannys Hips. Danny had hip discomfort growing up, visited the doc at 17 and was dismissed with "bad hips." He learned to make the best of his hips by monitoring his activity, walking slowly, making me wear hiking packs and taking breaks. After experiencing back pain this year he went to a doctor who took one look at his x-ray and sent him to orthopedics who sent him to a surgeon. We are blessed with a great friend who is amazing hip surgeon and chief of orthopedics AKA John Kronick who guided us in our decision. Our family is always taken care of in miraculous ways. Here are his hips: The Problem: acetabular (hip) dysplasia is a congenital disorder usually formed by age 3. His acetabular is more dish shaped instead of cup shaped.
