Christmas

After being away from the boys for a day it was so great to be with them Christmas morning.  All Danny and I wanted to do was leave the hospital and be with our boys.  We had added joy to see them happy and enjoy opening their presents.  Can you tell what they both love and asked for this year?

Mom found this kitchen set and the cutest fruit stand with a cash register on craigslist for $1 thanks to a super rich family in Alamo.  Almost all of our purchases for Christmas were on Craigslist.  Did you know I love Craigslist?

The 3 Lietz women.  Can you believe my sister is 6 months pregnant in this picture?  She looks great.  We are so excited to have a baby Maddox join the fam in 2 months. He has been one ofthe greatest blessings and miracles for our family this year.   Family is truly one of the greatest blessings to celebrate during the holidays.  I am grateful for all the family and friends that we are blessed with!

Thanks so much for your happiness and good wishes. Everyday I count my blessings for being pregnant with this little guy. I feel so lucky to be bringing him into such an amazing and supportive family. Plus he has the added bonus of 2 cousins to learn from. I can't wait to see all of them interact together, it is going to be hilarious. I know Roman is going to look up to Scott and Tyler so much and I can't wait to see their friendship grow.

You look amazing for having gone through so much the day/night before Christmas! I'm so glad you were able to have a good day. Your family is amazing. I hope I get to meet them someday!

My mom is in town from Utah. She spent the night at the hospital last night and has been holding Tyler quite a bit. He really enjoys being held, so he's less fussy and has responded well to the weaning of the oxygen. He's on regular air, but I guess it's still the high-flow to keep his lungs inflated. He's up to 9 cc's of food per hour, an improvement over yesterday's 2 cc's. The picture is of Betty and Bob Maddox (Heather's in-laws), Jacquie Lietz (Heidi's mom), Heather Maddox (Heidi's sister), and Walt Lietz, Heidi's dad. They did a 5K walk to raise money for the American Heart Association. Thanks to all who donated on behalf of Heather and Tyler!

Periacetabular Osteotomy "Hip" Surgery

Ok, should we just rename our blog the McMillan Pediatrics Medical Journal? Everyone has issues. Our family is congenital medical disorders. Tylers heart, Carls brain and Dannys Hips. Danny had hip discomfort growing up, visited the doc at 17 and was dismissed with "bad hips." He learned to make the best of his hips by monitoring his activity, walking slowly, making me wear hiking packs and taking breaks. After experiencing back pain this year he went to a doctor who took one look at his x-ray and sent him to orthopedics who sent him to a surgeon. We are blessed with a great friend who is amazing hip surgeon and chief of orthopedics AKA John Kronick who guided us in our decision. Our family is always taken care of in miraculous ways. Here are his hips: The Problem: acetabular (hip) dysplasia is a congenital disorder usually formed by age 3. His acetabular is more dish shaped instead of cup shaped.
