Fun with Grammy and Grampy

Danny's parents came to visit and we had a great time. Their train took 26 hours to get here due to weather. Once they were here, we had a relaxing weekend filled with hanging out and catching up in person. It was rainy, but we managed to have a great time. On Saturday, Scott wanted to go bowling. Scott has a hard time trying new things by himself and wanted me or Danny to help him throw the ball. He doesn't like the learning process of anything and takes it so seriously. Tyler would watch his ball roll as slowly as possible until it got to the pins. He might be the worlds slowest and most concentrated bowler. Afterwards we went to ice-cream. We dropped the kids off at the Saturday night co-op and went to a German restaurant. It was quite hidden in the middle of Concord and was really good! It is so fun to have a date once a week without kids. Sunday we went to Church, went on a bike ride, visited the Bogners and got to hear an amazing conversion story from Dan and headed home for dinner. It was a great day. Grammy brought fun crafts for the boys which Tyler especially loves. He is my child who will sit and craft as long as he can. Monday was a BEAUTIFUL day and we went to Castle Rock to soak in some Vitamin E and enjoy the beautiful outdoors before they headed home for Utah. Great weekend!

Wow, that does look like a fun weekend! Siena loves bowling. Every time we pass the bowling alley she asks if we can go. The German restaurant sounds like fun too! Maybe when we see you guys next we can go there too, since Jared is trying to learn German you know. :)

My mom is in town from Utah. She spent the night at the hospital last night and has been holding Tyler quite a bit. He really enjoys being held, so he's less fussy and has responded well to the weaning of the oxygen. He's on regular air, but I guess it's still the high-flow to keep his lungs inflated. He's up to 9 cc's of food per hour, an improvement over yesterday's 2 cc's. The picture is of Betty and Bob Maddox (Heather's in-laws), Jacquie Lietz (Heidi's mom), Heather Maddox (Heidi's sister), and Walt Lietz, Heidi's dad. They did a 5K walk to raise money for the American Heart Association. Thanks to all who donated on behalf of Heather and Tyler!

Ok, should we just rename our blog the McMillan Pediatrics Medical Journal? Everyone has issues. Our family is congenital medical disorders. Tylers heart, Carls brain and Dannys Hips. Danny had hip discomfort growing up, visited the doc at 17 and was dismissed with "bad hips." He learned to make the best of his hips by monitoring his activity, walking slowly, making me wear hiking packs and taking breaks. After experiencing back pain this year he went to a doctor who took one look at his x-ray and sent him to orthopedics who sent him to a surgeon. We are blessed with a great friend who is amazing hip surgeon and chief of orthopedics AKA John Kronick who guided us in our decision. Our family is always taken care of in miraculous ways. Here are his hips: The Problem: acetabular (hip) dysplasia is a congenital disorder usually formed by age 3. His acetabular is more dish shaped instead of cup shaped.
