Another day in SF

Twas great to have a day off for President's Day. We loaded up the bicycles and RC cars and went to San Francisco, where the weather was very nice. We parked on Lincoln, assembled the trailer, then tracked along the sidewalk to 19th avenue where we entered Golden Gate Park. Scott and I drove our RC cars for a time and I was pleased with how well he did. Then, he let another kid drive the truck, which surprised me.

Tyler enjoyed just playing in the sand with his bulldozer. Then, we dropped into the museum for a few minutes. It's nice having a season pass because you don't feel guilty for leaving in that short amount of time.

As for the bachelor: Things are a bit too boring. I fell asleep during last night's episode and didn't see the rose ceremony, but I think Gia got kicked off. She was nice and pretty, but way too insecure and high-maintenance. I think Jake is going to choose Vienna, be miserable with her, and dump her on the next bachelorette. Meanwhile, Tinley (sp?) is going to be heartbroken and hang around in the distance until Jake rolls around. Predictable reality TV. I'm such a sucker for that nonsense. Originally, I thought Jake was going to kick Alli back on. That could still happen, since they need that drama leverage point.

I was surprised by the Bachelor comments. I didn't know you were hooked on reality tv. Funny. Good to see you playing with the boys and your R/C toys. I need to get my plane out again and fix up the chopper. Sweet.

My mom is in town from Utah. She spent the night at the hospital last night and has been holding Tyler quite a bit. He really enjoys being held, so he's less fussy and has responded well to the weaning of the oxygen. He's on regular air, but I guess it's still the high-flow to keep his lungs inflated. He's up to 9 cc's of food per hour, an improvement over yesterday's 2 cc's. The picture is of Betty and Bob Maddox (Heather's in-laws), Jacquie Lietz (Heidi's mom), Heather Maddox (Heidi's sister), and Walt Lietz, Heidi's dad. They did a 5K walk to raise money for the American Heart Association. Thanks to all who donated on behalf of Heather and Tyler!

Ok, should we just rename our blog the McMillan Pediatrics Medical Journal? Everyone has issues. Our family is congenital medical disorders. Tylers heart, Carls brain and Dannys Hips. Danny had hip discomfort growing up, visited the doc at 17 and was dismissed with "bad hips." He learned to make the best of his hips by monitoring his activity, walking slowly, making me wear hiking packs and taking breaks. After experiencing back pain this year he went to a doctor who took one look at his x-ray and sent him to orthopedics who sent him to a surgeon. We are blessed with a great friend who is amazing hip surgeon and chief of orthopedics AKA John Kronick who guided us in our decision. Our family is always taken care of in miraculous ways. Here are his hips: The Problem: acetabular (hip) dysplasia is a congenital disorder usually formed by age 3. His acetabular is more dish shaped instead of cup shaped.
