Scott's 4th Birthday Party

Scott had two requests for his 4th birthday. First, to have Daddy stay home from work and second to have a cars birthday party with his friends. To accommodate the first request, his birthday was conveniently moved from the 28th to the 29th (isn't is great only being four). We had a great time with friends. I had all these activities planned and of course with Scott's friends + siblings + us moms who just want to sit and chat while our kids play we only accomplished two things, which I thought that was impressive. We got the kids together to eat cake and played with a parachute which was soo fun. The kids had a great time. Scott loved having his friends over to celebrate with him and especially loved opening his presents. He got some very cool car items. There were no major injuries and no major meltdowns which equals SUCCESS! Happy Birthday Scott. We are so proud of you!!

Happy Birthday Scott!!! Man, I can't believe he's already four years old! TIME FLIES WAY TOO FAST!!! I seriously want to freeze time and just have Rio be 2 and Nya be a newborn forever. Those cars are so cute - nice work :) And you guys always have the coolest cakes!

What a fun party! Heidi, that is such a darling idea to do the car races--so creative! Siena has also requested a Lightning McQueen cake. My friend has a mold she's going to let me borrow, so we'll have to see how it goes...I definitely do not brag about my cake decorating skills for good reason. :) Happy b-day Scott!

What a special birthday party for Scott. We had a great time celebrating. AND I know Scott did too. He was smiling the whole time.

My mom is in town from Utah. She spent the night at the hospital last night and has been holding Tyler quite a bit. He really enjoys being held, so he's less fussy and has responded well to the weaning of the oxygen. He's on regular air, but I guess it's still the high-flow to keep his lungs inflated. He's up to 9 cc's of food per hour, an improvement over yesterday's 2 cc's. The picture is of Betty and Bob Maddox (Heather's in-laws), Jacquie Lietz (Heidi's mom), Heather Maddox (Heidi's sister), and Walt Lietz, Heidi's dad. They did a 5K walk to raise money for the American Heart Association. Thanks to all who donated on behalf of Heather and Tyler!

Ok, should we just rename our blog the McMillan Pediatrics Medical Journal? Everyone has issues. Our family is congenital medical disorders. Tylers heart, Carls brain and Dannys Hips. Danny had hip discomfort growing up, visited the doc at 17 and was dismissed with "bad hips." He learned to make the best of his hips by monitoring his activity, walking slowly, making me wear hiking packs and taking breaks. After experiencing back pain this year he went to a doctor who took one look at his x-ray and sent him to orthopedics who sent him to a surgeon. We are blessed with a great friend who is amazing hip surgeon and chief of orthopedics AKA John Kronick who guided us in our decision. Our family is always taken care of in miraculous ways. Here are his hips: The Problem: acetabular (hip) dysplasia is a congenital disorder usually formed by age 3. His acetabular is more dish shaped instead of cup shaped.
