13&Up Rafting Trip

13&ups rafting trip. Great time was had by all.  Kira has the best group of swim friends. I stayed behind with the little kids.  The woodlands swimmers are having a great summer!

Woodlands Invitational 2024

Leading up to invitational, we do the 15-18 water balloon fight and 13/up dinner.  We changed it to Thursday this year so kids could sleep on Friday and have a day between swimming.  It was a great idea but of course Mel complained that alumni parents couldn't come.  They couldn't come Thursday night at 10PM because so many of them work in the City (you honestly can't make this stuff up).
All the kids had fun. It was a super hot night which was amazing to get tats and swim in the pool.

Invitational is always fun but it was rather stressful for me since I felt like I was doing HR all day on Saturday after almost every heat had a kid pulled from the blocks for fall starts...grrr.  It was a mess and we were stuck in the middle of a few usa officials and the spirit of rec swimming.  The kids had fun.   And overall the meet was a success by the end of Sunday.  Harry is going to be the new meet director.  Liz did a great job this year.  Grateful for the many parents who put in so much work to make it a success.  Hanna tied for highpoint with a really tall girl.

Tyler FSY Colorado State

Two years ago Tyler went to FSY (for the strength of youth) which our church started 2 years ago.  A stake is assigned to a college every other year.  Two years ago Tyler went to Sonoma State and came home with mono.  So sick.  He said he wasn't feeling well there but I guess I didn't understand the severity.  He came home and was in the hospital for a week so he was pretty turned off from going this year.

Kira went to Sonoma State and had a great time.  She came over teaching us all about what she learned and her testimony was truly strengthened.  I really wanted Tyler to go and people told me there were still openings.  Tyler wasn't at all interested in going back to Sonoma State where he had a less than ideal time so we looked up all different locations.  He and Matty wanted to go to Santa Barbara but it was filled so we found Colorado State which wasn't too far and looked beautiful.  We got cheap flights and signed them up and they had a great time.  They stayed an extra day and a friend they met from Wyoming took them on a tour of Wyoming and they attended the largest rodeo in Cheyenne.  So glad Tyler and Matty went and got to experience a week with friends, counselors and time strengthening their testimony of the Savior.  All week I felt so grateful for the amazing experiences the church has to strengthen these kids testimonies of the Savior.

The best text I received.  I am having a great time.  I really felt the Spirit yesterday. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Kira Girls Camp

Kira was a 3rd year at Rucker Lake Girls Camp.  Being a 3rd year means you spend 2 nights sleeping on tarps under the stars.  She said it was cold and people forgot the tarp but you learn to survive. Overall, she had a great time.  I think she enjoyed last year with less hiking.  We are lucky to have such great leaders who spend a week strengthening the girls testimonies of the Savior and helping them do challenging things while enjoying the beautiful area we live!

RIVER FLOAT

Best way to beat 110 degree weather is floating a river in 100 degree weather. Not much can beat American Livin that floating a river.  We all felt like we were on the jungle tour, surrounded by people that were floating solo with their beer or adult gummies and cigarettes.  Hanna lost her tooth, I lost my sunglasses, we didn't pop any tubes, only got hit by 1 branch, found tons of berries along the way and had a blast. Best way to celebrate Heidi's 40th.

Hurricane Harbor with the Team

We went to WaterWorld with the team which was a blast.  Hanna is upset I don't have pics of her so I better find some.

Woodlands Beach Day

We did our first annual WST beach trip to Alameda Crab Cove which was a lot of fun.  It isn't a beach with waves but only about 30 minutes away which we all loved.  So many people came, the 15-18s loved talking, little kids loved paddle boarding, digging holes and playing games.

In-N-Out Fieldtrip

Our first fieldtrip of the year to In-N-Out....it was fun. We learned how they get their produce and how early they need to start prepping f...
