Week in Review

How we fill our summer days....I work from 7 or to 12 or 1 each day depending on lessons. Lately I have been getting up around 5:30 to get the home and kids stuff organized before I go.  After that we fill our afternoons with fun.

Last week we did our first day of water polo and the kids had so much fun! Blake proclaimed he thought he would be really good at polo if he did it.  I reminded him he was athletic. It was fun. Last year we did it with the little kids and it was so hard but this year we broke them into 3 groups and did a set and two smaller groups and it was perfect with some coaches in the water helping the kids who couldn't swim much. I'll have to remember noodles next year.  It was a highlight of the week for a lot of them.

I can't remember what we did Monday.  Maybe nothing.  Tuesday we were going to go to Water World and they are now closed on Tuesday....booo! So we went Bowling and pizza with Ryan instead. It was fun. Then we went to the A's game in Oakland with the 13&ups.  Kira was bummed to miss it since she was at FSY.  We rode bart in and all had a great time and the A's actually won.  Everyone knows I have one goal to get on the jumbo-tron and we got on twice.  Big Feature.  Go us!  Matty also successfully started the wave. It was a good time had by all. After Tyler and I went to get food at Wendy's since we are too cheap to buy $20 chicken tenders at the game.  It tasted good.

Wednesday Blake had the Westover's birthday party. He went to Inside out 2 again but this time could actually hear since it wasn't at the drive in with a bad radio and ate chicago deep dish pizza which he said was disgusting.  Hanna went to Paisley's for the day and had so much fun playing with Paisley. She loves Paisley! We had a meet against IVST. It was fun to swim a faster team finally and the kids starting to look alive again.

Thursday we went to Water World with Parker and Hanna.  Blake was tired and has been really into reading his book series so decided to stay home and out of the sun. He and his friends were playing in our backyard most of the morning swimming.  Hanna got onto rides she had never done and loved it. We also got a bunch of tubes from people since they were leaving.  Going the last two hours of the park is the best.  It is warm, people are leaving and 2 hours is perfect.  We had a blast.  That night we had an Olympic Trial Viewing Party at the pool which was so fun! It look some work to get things set up and we were all watching from the computer when it wasn't dark enough but when night came, people showed up and we had a blast.  Chipotle burritos also made it amazing for the mcmillans!  Danny set up his amazing sound system which sounds amazing.  Lots of compliments at the meet about feeling the music. That night I was exhausted....so tired as were the kids. 3 nights out with the A's game, meet and then movie night hit me hard.

Friday we hit National smoothie day at Jamba Juice for $1 smoothies and bowling in which the kids are actually getting better at not having meltdowns about who wins and actually better bowlers.  Tyler got a turkey which was amazing.

Saturday was our meet with the Rudgear Rats and Tyler went into the City with the 15-18s to take pics of his and Ephraims car. Ephraim has helped revitilize the 15-18s and always wants to do stuff with them which is fun. Tyler said they all had a blast. Nikki swam in her first meet and was nervous and then had a great time. So glad she is going to join. She also got into San Diego State so will be here for County...yay!! Now she just has to make it.  Looking up for our15-18 relays.

Today concluded Olympic Trials for swimming. We got peacock to stream trials and watched it one day but our internet has been down for a week.  It has actually been a blessing because the kids can't be on screens. They were playing fort night too much or just watching shows which is no bueno. Now they are forced to play games, swim and read while I am at work. WE have been playing a lot of Rack-O with Hanna (her new fav game) and Play 9 with the younger 3.

Pineapple Run

Woodlands had another successful pineapple run this year. The kids run a mile or less (depending on age) followed by a 500 swim or less. They always get so competitive and love to win the coveted pineapple. Parker ran so fast and came in 4th overall which was amazing considering he can barely swim.  He said he got DQ'd since he pulled on the rope the entire time....lol.Hanna and Teddy dominated the 6&U division in true Hanna/Teddy fashion...lol.  And Blake took home the pineapple for the 11-12 boys. He couldn't go to practice the next day since he was so sore from the run but he ran his heart out...lol. He is enjoying swimming more this year and able to swim most of practice. His whole age group seems to be maturing and more supportive of each other and less concerned about who is winning and who is beating who which is nice. Lets hope it stays that way.  Kira was at FSY so bummed but I think secretly happy she didn't have to run. WE had our first annual adult division and Harry and Michelle took home the pineapple.Overall great day!

Rudgear Rats & Ladies Night Out

We swam the Rats on a 90degree day.  Always the best for swim meets. Coach Nick, one of my faves, showed up in style of the Woodlands Coaches with their fanny packs, shades and power pellets. It was such a compliment.  Scott would be proud!   I decided to do a last minute coaches relay before the 6&Under relays which was a highlight for the kids to watch. I went off the diving board to try to beat Mason which didn't give me enough advantage.  We chose to do 8x25 with the Rats and WST A-lay did 4x50. The rats took it but Mason made sure we knew they did 25s...lol. Afterwards a northgate teammate who was on Terapins came up to me and I would have never recognized his transformation.  Steve Long...it made me so happy to see him and catch up!  Decked out, full energy, so much fun!  I told him I loved Steve2.0 and got to meet his sweet kids. He is a anethesiologist at UCSF specializing in pediatric cardiology...how crazy is that!  Such a small world! Such a fun part of our swim community!

That night Alice hosted ladies night out for the WST ladies which was a lot of fun. While I was hanging out with the ladies, Blake was at Nicholas B-day party and had a great time!  It was Heather Farms Inflatables followed by a sleepover. He came home so happy to be included and felt like a million dollars this week since he had two birthday parties.  He made a comment about how he is never invited to things in his 'friend' group at school which I have been trying to tell him to find a new group and so I was able to have an awesome conversation with him about expanding his friend groups and he was really receptive after this week.  That might all change tomorrow or next week but I am learning as a mom to allow life to teach certain lessons and when they do, to remind your kids of those lessons in the moment.

Kira FSY

Kira went to Sonoma State for her first FSY experience and loved it. She showed up at the swim meet at 9AM and wanted to tell me all about it and show me all her pictures. It was so awesome to see and then today while I was preparing dinner for the missionaries, she shared all the talks and devotionals and amazing faith building lessons she learned.  I was so happy for her and grateful for such an amazing experience the church provides for these kids to go to FSY!

Tyler High Adventure

Tyler went to High Adventure with the Youth.  He wasn't excited about going and then had a great time.  They went biking and got him an E-bike which was amazing, white river rafting, rock climbing and camping.

WST AGE GROUP OUTINGS

The week was jammed pack with age group outings.

We had friends over to swim on the weekend which was fun.  Hanna had Teddy and Maggie and Parker had friends from school.  The boys love to do a wave pool.  Hanna wants to have a playdate everyday.

Monday the 11-12s did the escape room which Blake said was a lot of fun and they escaped.  I planned on taking Hanna and Parker to the water park when Blake was at the activity and it was conveniently about 2 minutes away...score!  We have season passes so that was fun on a hot day.

Tuesday was pump it up and rock-in jump.  We did an hour at both.

Wednesday was the meet against WHO and it was fun seeing Amelia.  She is doing great and excited to transfer and swim at TCU next year!

Thursday we did the drive in.  Our radio didn't work even though Danny tried to fix it but luckily we were able to hear others music.  It was windy and cold which was crazy because it was about 90 the day before.  My 3 littles sat in the back of the van and Kira and her friends sat in another car.  The kids pretty much bundled inside trunks.

Friday we played waterpolo with all the age groups which the kids loved and then we went to our 9/10 bowling outing.  Blake was in a mood and hangry so that was a little stressful.  Parker had fun with his friends once he left Blake's lane.

Saturday we had a meet against Geringher which was fun because they had basketball courts and volleyball courts and playgrounds for the kids to play at.  Afterwards we went to Sophia Cadero's grad party.  The little kids swam.  Blake had a meltdown after pool so I ended up taking him to Wendy's, John's ice cream and to sit at Krey park which was fun and allowed him to cool down.

We went to church today and watched some Olympic Trials.  Bailey isn't swimming great but it was fun to watch her on TV and we are proud of her for how hard she was worked and how amazing she is.

Overall a good week.

Tyler was at high adventure for the week and had fun and Kira was in Utah at Grammy camp.
