We went to Monterey again for Danny's birthday and lucked out with amazing weather. Blake was pretty difficult last time we went so Glen and Janine came out to be with the kids which was really nice for the kids to have some time with them. They met Lindsey at Great Wolf Lodge for the day, watched the BYU/UTAH football game at night which was amazing. BYU was 8-0 at the time and came back from behind at Utah to win the game and then went to church the next day. The kids don't get much time with them so it was nice.
To start of Danny's birthday, he got an amazing Traxxas TRX4 Blazer from Blake. Blake was talking to Danny a while ago about what he wanted and this is what he said so Blake looked on Facebook and Craigslist and found one. He was soo exciting to give Pops (the new name for Danny) his new car and they have had a lot of fun making obstacle courses for it and driving it. It is actually pretty fun.
Danny and I spent our first day in Monterey doing the 17 mile drive, going to lunch and Ghiradelli. It was gorgeous and so many birds. The next morning I was reading the news and it talked about some disease that killed fish which has brought so many birds to the shore. They were really cool to watch. We headed to Santa Cruz that night and ate at an amazing restaurant. Thank you internet for the win. The next day we biked along the Santa Cruz shoreline to Twin Bridges and back to the boardwalk before finding an amazing deli in Santa Cruz off the beaten path that we will definitely try again. We went on a train ride in the santa cruz mountains which was a lot of fun and definitely something the kids would enjoy. It helped that it was warm weather which is probably rare. That night we stayed in Pacifica, watched the BYU game, got some food for our hotel and went to church the next day in a Spanish Branch. I went to Spanish Relief Society and Danny to english. We headed out with plans to possibly do San Francisco but after hitting traffic and not moving for an hour headed home to play with the kids.
We are all so grateful for Danny! He is a great dad, husband, dentist and friend. I feel like he is in a really good place in his life right now and hope he gets to enjoy it as much as he deserves. We love you Danny!
