Labor Day Weekend

This kids all had Friday off and Danny had Monday off which was really nice.  If I checked calendars and realized the kids had the day off, I probably would have planned a camping trip or trip.  Instead, we stayed home and decided to relax and see how the weekend panned out.

Tyler opened up an early birthday present because Danny wanted to take advantage of the weekend to run RC boats.  He got a pro-boat named the Black Jack.  Tyler was really excited. All smiles and excited to run it.  We went to Shadow Lakes, which is a golf course lake across the street.  It was a lot of fun. Danny traded an autoclave he wanted to get rid of for the boat.  The ex-owner came to watch as well as Britton and Calvin.

We went to CreAsian with Lindsey, Drew and Mara.  It was a lot fun.  Always so great catching up with them.  It is fun having them in California and seeing them a little more.  Lindsey and Richard went to Hamilton and we watched Mara. We went to the gym and had a lot of fun at the pool. All my kids just wanted to play with Mara.  It was so cute listening to Parker say, "Mara, Mara, Mara."  The kids all came home exhausted and off to bed.  It was fun being able to hang out with her. Was grateful the kids got to spend time with her.

On Sunday we went to a BBQ/FHE that Shawna put on.  It was a potluck and a lot of fun.  There were probably 8 families from the 1st ward there. I really like our ward but I definitely have more friends my age in the 1st ward probably from homeschooling.  Grateful for both wards and all the wonderful people in them.  I spent a lot of the night in Shawna's backyard so Parker could hold the chickens and try to ride the scooter that was out of batteries.  He will ride that back and forth on the trail by the park.

Monday we went to ride the boats again which was a lot of fun.  I decided to run there instead of take the bike. The kids were going to go to the movies with the Blodgets but we ended up staying too long and going to a BBQ at Margot Olson's instead.  They did a major renovation on a home and backyard and it was so nice.  It was perfect for the kids even though it was hot.  After the amazing BBQ we went to another BBQ at the Cooks which is always a great time.  We only lasted about an hour.  The kids loved the snowcones and then we headed home around 8 since we were out all day.  I felt so grateful for a weekend of friends.

I have the personality that I am always on the go and want to take advantage of going places but I am learning that sometimes it is great just to stay home and be with family and friends.  I need that.  We all need that. It was the perfect weekend!
