Backyard

The kids have been spending more time outside, which is good.  They need a media fast.  Scott, Tyler, and Kira are into climbing into the tree.  Tyler is into having his picture taken.  

Here, the boys prepare the garden for some strawberry starts.

Three weeks later, this is how they look.  I am impressed at nature and how dormant plants just know what kind of tissue to generate.  I guess it's evidence of God's role.  

The boys have been into practicing baseball.  They like shagging tennis balls from around the community, so it's no great loss when they go into the golf course.

 Blakey likes to just tag along.

I don't know what Kira's doing here, but check out that bird's nest of hair.  She's also into wearing pajamas 24/7 and she likes princesses.

We love spending time in the backyard too! Nice strawberries. And there is def something so amazing about a plant growing. It's therapeutic for us.

I can't believe how BIG the kids look! Tyler is so handsome! Blake has grown up! Good job to plant some strawberry starts--what an absolute testimony of God's power and genius, and a great way to teach kids the miracle of creation. Love you!

Your kids have a lot of fun! I like the first picture of Tyler, he's always been such a handsome boy. The others are just as adorable, but I may have a special place in my heart for Tyler. :)

My mom is in town from Utah. She spent the night at the hospital last night and has been holding Tyler quite a bit. He really enjoys being held, so he's less fussy and has responded well to the weaning of the oxygen. He's on regular air, but I guess it's still the high-flow to keep his lungs inflated. He's up to 9 cc's of food per hour, an improvement over yesterday's 2 cc's. The picture is of Betty and Bob Maddox (Heather's in-laws), Jacquie Lietz (Heidi's mom), Heather Maddox (Heidi's sister), and Walt Lietz, Heidi's dad. They did a 5K walk to raise money for the American Heart Association. Thanks to all who donated on behalf of Heather and Tyler!

Ok, should we just rename our blog the McMillan Pediatrics Medical Journal? Everyone has issues. Our family is congenital medical disorders. Tylers heart, Carls brain and Dannys Hips. Danny had hip discomfort growing up, visited the doc at 17 and was dismissed with "bad hips." He learned to make the best of his hips by monitoring his activity, walking slowly, making me wear hiking packs and taking breaks. After experiencing back pain this year he went to a doctor who took one look at his x-ray and sent him to orthopedics who sent him to a surgeon. We are blessed with a great friend who is amazing hip surgeon and chief of orthopedics AKA John Kronick who guided us in our decision. Our family is always taken care of in miraculous ways. Here are his hips: The Problem: acetabular (hip) dysplasia is a congenital disorder usually formed by age 3. His acetabular is more dish shaped instead of cup shaped.
