City Meet

Saturday was City Meet, a meet at Heather Farms with all the teams from Walnut Creek.  Kira did the best.  Her events and times were
100 yard IM, 1:17.54, 4th
50 yard free, 27.76, 9th (huge time drop)
50 yard fly, 33.64, 21st
200 yard medley relay, free, 27.26 split, 2:07.16 overall, 4th

Hanna did okay.

25 yard free, 28.25, 28th

25 yard fly, B division, 35.78, 1st

100 yard medley relay, back, no split, and they were disqualified for incorrect stroke.  She was happy to get a dog puppet though.

Parker did okay.

25 yard free, 19.00, 29th

25 yard fly, 24.06, 26th.

The thing that's so great about Parker is his independence.  Like, "Can I buy ice cream?"

"No, you need to eat real food first."

Still wanting ice cream, he'll just get some money and buy his own treats.

At least his stroke is improving but he was faster last year.

Tyler did the 100 free in 1:06.12, 19th place.

It was a good meet.  Not too hot, no meltdowns.

Woodlands @ Ygnacio Woods

Had a fun meet against Ygnacio Woods.  Hanna, Parker and I rode our bikes to the meet.  I was happy to have the 5d mkiv.  Blake swam exhibition.  The kids did well.  Woodlands won.

In the evening Heidi went shopping at Winco and Grocery Outlet.  Blake, Parker and I took a bike ride in the open space.  There was a jump we all went down.  Parker said, "Full send!"

It was a nice day.  Okay, bye.

Here's Hanna with her 2nd mom, Katie

Hanna did well.  Her events and times were
100 yard medley relay, 2:00.1, 1st
25 yard freestyle, 28.04, 3rd
25 yard back, 31.01, 2nd
100 free relay, 1:45.39, 1st

Tyler did the 50 free.  27.83, 6th

Kira swam in the 200 yard medley relay.  2:17.67, 1st
50 free, 29.09, 1st
50 breast 40.28, 2nd
200 yard free relay, 1:58.36, 1st

Parker took this picture with the Canon 40D

25 free, 21.70, 9th

Woodlands vs. Walnut Heights

Hey.  Woodlands hosted Walnut Heights yesterday.  Finally, it was warm, but not too warm.  The kids times were:

Hanna, 25 yard breast, 36:11, 2nd

25 yard back, 29.80, 1st.  She also competed in the medley and free relays.  Her medley relay got 1st with 2:00.05.

Parker, 25 yard free, 20.88, 8th

25 yard fly, 26.28, 5th.  He also competed in the medley and free relays.  He doesn't practice and has terrible technique but Scott reminds me, "It's just for fun.  Don't become one of those crazy swim parents."

Kira, 50 yard free, 29.34, 2nd

50 yard back, 35.41, 2nd.  She also competed in medley and free relays.  Her free relay got 1st, 1:56.92.

Hanna was the happiest about her performance and told lots of people that she got first.  It was cute.  She dropped a bunch of time from last year and is doing great as a five year old.

Tyler didn't swim because he said he was tired.  Blake attended but didn't swim.  Scott did workout with the Aquabears and then joined our meet to coach.  He swam as a 15-18 in the free relay.

Dana Hills vs. Woodlands vs. Scottsdale

The kids did well at the swim meet this weekend.  Parker did not attend time trials and therefore had no seed time.  Still, he got 2nd in freestyle.

Hanna dropped a lot of time since last year.  Her 100 free relay got 1st!

Blake did not swim since he does year round with Aquabears.  Check out Parker's boots.  I took Blake and Parker to Vecna's for the delivery of the mobile home (more info on NBI blog for that) and Parker couldn't find any shoes.  I made him wear his boots and then he tromped around the pool with them

And when he wasn't swimming, he was jumping off the swing.

The weather was nice.  It was fun to see the old peeps from Dana Hills.

State

Scott and Tyler went to the state swim meet in Clovis, CA from Thursday to Saturday.  They kicked it off with a pasta feed at our house and then I gave mullets to all of the boys except Ben and Marcus, who each got different variations of buzzes.

The boys had one goal in mind and that was to win the 200 free relay, which they did, with a record-breaking time of 1:21.36.  Scott was disappointed with his end-of-the-season performances but was still happy to be a part of the winning relay.

The "OG's," as Scott calls them.  The Aquabear pals.

First place, baby!

Tyler did well with a new best time in the 100 free of 1:05.xx, taking 1st.  He also got 1st in the 50 free but didn't go a best time.  He went 27:1x

The parents of the Northgate swimmers

Tyler with his paralympic competitors

I like rapid firing the chaos at the end of the relays because the water's a buzz and everyone looks at the scoreboard with bated breath.  I did get a few of those tense looks but this was my favorite, with Scott announcing the win with his arms and Andrew and Kyle hugging.  Andrew really pulled it home as the anchor.

200 free relay state champs:  Scott, Kyle Kengla, Andrew Hallet, Mason Wendler

Northgate swimmers with coach Jeff

Ben Nonaka, Scott, Kyle Kengla, Andrew Hallet, Jacob Mohrland, Tyler, Mason Wendler

Northgate got 5th overall.  They lacked the volume of swimmers that private schools can recruit but the real zinger was that they beat de la Salle by one point!  Ha ha ha!

Then Scott wanted to bolt home to go to Mormon prom.  He wanted this picture just so, with the trunk up and his toothpaste and toothbrush like this.

His date, Mia

Mother's day photo of the kidz.

Parker is into photography from time to time and wanted to use the Canon 5d mkiv.  He took this and I edited it to be b/w.  Scott and Tyler call it gangster.

A busy week

Hanna had her 8th birthday on Friday.  Tyler was leaving for BYU that morning so we celebrated Hanna on Thursday.  She got some nice gifts: ...
