Tyler had an AMAZING meet at NCS this year! He dropped 2 seconds in the 100 free and went a 101 and 1 second in the 50 and went a 25.4. It is so awesome he gets to be a part of the para athletes competing. I have become such an advocate for inclusion in the process recognizing these kids bring a new perspective to the meet. He has been working so hard in the gym and it is showing with his swimming. He is excited for State and summer rec where he will coach and swim. Sophia and others were behind his block cheering which was super cool.
Other highlights included Mason dominating the sprints. He won the 100 with a 44.3, Diego won the 100 back with a 48.0, Grace swam for the first time as a para athlete, Jon Mende went a 49 in his back, Kyle dominated his underwaters and was going to win except for a short finish (stupid 50) and Maddie got her first NCS medal and of course hanging out with some of my favorite coaches and swimmers. It is always so great to see these kids come together as a high school and as friends and do what they love. It poured on Saturday so not great swims but we look forward to a great state meet.
