Kira's relay meet at Monte Vista

Kira has had a great track season.  She's in 1st place for the 3rd grade girls 100 meter dash with a time of 15.48.  That's pretty good because when I was in 9th grade, the fastest girl in our district ran a 13.0.  She has a 33.xx in the 200, and I think that's good because my best time in 9th grade was 27.5.  I don't mind posting my weak times because I don't care what people think.  I'm pretty sure Kira will be faster than I ever was.

I think her baton transitions are rough but I don't want to step in and undo what the coaches have taught.  I always hated the baton pass.  If you looked forward, you couldn't see the baton.  If you looked back, you couldn't see where you were going.  Once I ran into some kid and went down.

Kira doesn't seem to get anxious about her events, either.  It's nice because she hears "first call..." and goes to the event.  Kira pretty much succeeds at any athletic endeavor.  The reason track is nice is because the times don't lie.  There's no subjectivity.

Way to go, Kira!  Okay, bye.

Easter and Heidi's birthday

On Sunday we invited over a new family in response to an invitation from the visiting general authority at stake conference.  First, though, we had an Easter egg hunt.

Poor Hanna has had a hard spring.  She hurt her foot somehow and didn't put weight on it for over a week.  Now she seems to be suffering from allergies.

I had made rolls last week and they were a hit, so I enlisted the kids help to make more.  They were into it.

And once again, the rolls were a hit.

Heidi's birthday was yesterday.  The kids and I went to her work with some balloons and had the swimmers and parents sing happy birthday to her.  I wanted to embarrass her, so I brought the bullhorn and said, "Today's Coach Heidi's birthday.  29, again."

I'm grateful for the effort Heidi puts into home schooling Blake and cleaning up the home, even though she thinks I don't realize how much work it is.  Maybe I don't.  Oh well.  Okay, bye.
