Scott of 2011

This was a year of firsts and growth for Scott.  He continues to be mini-Danny in so many ways fixing his RC toys, the car or playing with his soldering iron alongside dad.  He has surpassed my ability in lego building and loves everything hands on.

He has transformed into a confident and social 5 year old.  He finished up Walnut Acres Pre-K continuing to extend his hours.  He had friends in school and became less timid, but still had a hard time initiating friendships and being confident in who he was.  He cared about what others thought of him or who he played with day which we worked on.  He always tried his best.

Scott's personality transformation occured in the summer during rec swimming.  He learned to be independent, social and confident.  While I worked, he had to make friends and create fun.  Before long, he would find friends, have fun and became this confident, independent, social 5 year old.

We moved to Brentwood before Scott started school.  He played soccer and had a great time!  For the first half he waiting for the ball to come to him and one day decided to go for the ball.  He became such a good little player and had as much fun in the game as on the side eating oranges and playing with teammates.  He made some great friends on the team and always felt good about himself.

Kindergarten has been a great experience for Scott.  He loves to go and see his friends.  He runs out of the van and is greeted by friends.  This is the best part as a parent! He doesn't mind learning, but is definetely not at the point that he wants to spend his spare time learning.I figure that this is the joy of kindergarten.  All Danny and I wanted for him this year was to enjoy going to school, be kind to others and have friends which he has.

He started the piano this year and has been doing great.  The joy of practicing depends on the day.  Danny wanted to teach him suzuki, but it seems he likes reading better.  He did great at his first concert.  He even did a singing solo and duet this year in church.  He wasn't too happy after his duet but made it through.  He is the loudest primary singer and def. not the most on key (probably thanks to me) but usually feels good about himself afterwards.  What a change from not even singing last year as a sunbeam.

He is such a good big brother.  He and Tyler are either best of buddies or worst of enemies. He takes such good care of Kira.  He takes her to the potty when she asks, speaks in the cutest voice and sometimes even entertains her when I ask

He is thoughtful of others.  We will do a small and simple kind act for something and it impacts him so much.  He ensures we always read the scriptures, say our prayers and have FHE.  He is quick to pray for help and is starting to form such a wonderful relationship with our Savior.

Overall, it has been a great year for Scott!
