What did we do the last couple of days of summer? We played with the giant inflatable slide that was left at our home for 2 days after the county party. Neighborhood kids came over and they slid from morning until night. It was a lot of fun even though it killed our grass but that is coming back.
We are officially done with 2.5 weeks of school!
Blake and Parker are homeschooling. Blake is really enjoying it and doing a good job getting his work done. His favorite subject is Spanish. Parker is starting from the basics and I think it will be a good year for both of them.
Hanna is in 2nd grade with Mr. Mellinger and seems to be off to a good start. She had a good summer being a good friend and making friends and are hoping that continues into school.
Kira was excited for Freshman year and got so sick the second week of school and missed almost the entire week. It was a bummer and pretty stressful for her but she persevered.
Tyler is trying to figure out his DVC classes and figure out how to manage getting things done which isn't his strength. I am trying to have him do things by himself like figure out his schedule and get his DVC classes set (which I admit is difficult and confusing), however, there are people who he can utilize to help him and instead of calling the help line and asking them for help, he just gets mad at me.
We watched Nicholas for the 1st week back to school because Nancy hurt her back really bad. It was fun having him with us. He goes to daycare from 8-5 everyday so it was really just taking him along with us to play at heather farms and watch the older kids in their sports. He would play soccer with Hanna while we waited for Parker which was fun. Hanna and Parker loved playing with him. The kids didn't sleep great but we survived.
Kira and Blake are doing Aquabears. It is quite the adjustment for Kira who has never swam that much and Blake is crushing it. It is one of his favorite parts of his day. Hanna, Parker and Blake are back to Copa which is fun for all of them. It is nice to be back into a routine. I have had a couple of weeks off of swim and excited to get back into this week. Cole and Tyler are going to help me with clinics this year which will be nice.
For Hanna's birthday and a reward for having a good start to the school year I took Blake, Parker and Hanna to Great Wolf Lodge. It was fun. We got there early Thursday and the kids played on the waterslides and ropes course all day. We went to Costco for dinner. The next day we did Magi-quest and more slides. Blake was the most into this game that you go around and try to beat this scavenger hunt type game. He probably spent over 3 hours doing it. Parker and Hanna liked doing the waterslides. The water and air was super warm inside, their were minimal to no lines and everyone had a good time. Blake wanted to get home in time to go to Aquabears. Fun had by all. Hanna wants to have a birthday party so we will have to organize something for her. It has been the season of birthday parties for her. Last week she went to Rockin Jump for Camila's party. Today she was back at Rockin Jump for Lila's and now is at alice's party. Everyone is turning 7 or 8 this time of year apparently!
I am excited we are at a stage that we can go on adventures with kids and all have a good time and be somewhat independent. We are going to Hawaii in about a month and I know it will be a great, memorable trip for all. Hoping it is the beginning of a new stage of going on trips for us.
Last days of summer....
